Who We Are
One of the most important things we do as a community is worship. We gather each week as the body of Jesus Christ and lift high the name of Jesus. We listen for God's Word which comes to us through songs, scriptures, and sermons. We respond to the Word with our heads, our hearts, and our hands through the giving of our offerings and the renewal of our commitment to serve God in the world.
3 - 16
We would love to see you this Sunday, come as you are.
• We begin by gathering as a church and approaching God.
• We worship by experiencing the Good News.
• We worship by going forth to serve the cause of God's Kingdom.
What We Believe
Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. At Asbury we achieve this by following our mission statement –
We bring hope by providing care through our ministry of care to our members, by engaging in missions locally, regionally and globally. We build faith by providing Christian educational and informational programming for children, youth, and adults. We reach out with love by going on mission trips in the United States and Mexico as well as locally with our Re-nesting and Katy Build projects.

Meet Our Staff
From its humble beginnings at Curtis Park to its relocation to St. Stephen's, from gathering at Bossier Parish Community College to finding a permanent home at its present-day location on Airline Drive, Asbury's journey has been one of constant faith and continual growth.
On September 11, 2005, Asbury Church held a grand opening for its new, 900-seat sanctuary in hopes that its walls would become the church home for people looking for a warm, friendly, welcoming community of believers. It is with great anticipation that we continue this journey, as we dream of expanding our church and facilities in the coming years.
Won't you join us and become a part of the history of Asbury?
What We Believe
How We Worship
Christian Worship is at the center of who we are at Asbury. Worship is designed to help us connect more clearly with God's spirit that is life-directing, and to send us into the world as God's instruments of caring, healing and truth.
This service follows the traditional United Methodist order of worship, features traditional hymns from the hymnal accompanied by piano, organ and brass, and special music sung by the Chancel Choir. Pastoral staff don clergy robes for this service. We believe that God looks at our hearts, not our appearance. Therefore please dress as you feel comfortable.
Traditional Worship 8:30am
Contemporary Worship 10:45am
This service features contemporary Christian music provided by our praise and worship band. This service is a convergence of old and new worship styles, maintaining many aspects of a traditional order of worship and liturgy. We invite you to participate in the living out of God’s story as we worship through music, prayer, community, and the hearing and teaching of God’s word.
YOUth Worship is a worship experience for YOUth by YOUth that includes music by our Youth Band, speakers on relevant topics, and grade level small group discussion led by youth and adults. How We Serve
With opportunities and groups for all ages, we welcome everyone. We hope you not only find a place where you belong but the courage to get involved and become a vital part of who we are as a church family. Without the people, we are simply a building, and without Christ in our midst, we are nothing. Together we live out our mission.
We have many ministry opportunities from serving on our Meal Team, Silver Eagles, Welcoming Team, Communion Team, Care Team, Asbury Motor Club to Office, Media and Worship.....there is a place for you to serve in your areas of interest.
For more information on these ministry teams, contact Angela Pfanner.
At Asbury when we say missions are the life blood of the church, we mean it. Extending the hands and feet of Christ into the world is one of the most significant things we do. And everyone is involved; there are Mission Possible programs for children, monthly mission projects for the Confirmation class, and youth are also actively engaged in on-going missions including their summer trips to the Navajo Nation and UMArmy.
Our Missions Committee meets the 2nd Monday of every month in Rooms 18/19.
Volunteers are unpaid not because they are worthless,
because they are priceless

The Asbury United Methodist Church Prayer Ministry involves many areas. What originated as a list of members who passed along requests via the telephone later evolved into a single intercessory prayer group and has taken many additional avenues.
The Internet becomes the communicator of this group. It is the largest “intercessory” part of the ministry as it involves the most people. As the prayer chain begins, the team leader receives the request in the church office and posts it on the Internet. This goes out to the e-mail addresses of those participating. They are non-confidential requests and anyone can email or call the church office to get on the e-mail list.
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus
Prayers / Devotional
The Prayer Ministry invites those who are interested in praying for others to join us. If you feel this is an area in which you would like to participate, please contact Team Coordinator, Sandra Burchett or the church office at 746-5349 to become a part of this heart warming ministry.

Our children's choir is currently preparing for our Spring Musical, we invite all children (ages preschool- 5th grade) to be a part of this ministry!
Asbury recognizes a special place for 6th-graders: too old for the children’s wing and too young for the youth. With that in mind, the Confirmation students have their own class with one goal: to recognize and choose the role Christ will play in each of their lives.
Sunday school lessons, trips, fellowship activities, and mission projects all center around learning who Christ is and choosing Him. We study the history of our faith, beginning with the Jewish religion and moving forward through Catholicism and Protestantism to Methodism. We visit synagogues and churches to gain a hands-on look at the movement of Christianity. In addition, we have a mission project each month and discuss the importance of modeling Christ-like behaviors to others.
Welcome to Asbury YOUth! If you are currently in the 7th-12th grade, we would love to have you check us out. Our motto is “Loving UP & Loving OUT!” Basically we want to love up to God and love out to people, which comes from Luke 10:27.

YOUth Worship is a worship experience for youth by youth. Worship is led by the youth band, topics are introduced on relevant subjects, and those topics are then discussed in grade level small groups.
